If you need comparisons to whet your appetite, Amy Kyle's clear, uncluttered voice reminds me of Aruba Red in the modern era, with touches of Nina Simone. Maurice is surrounded by a group of highly accomplished musicians: Guillaume Perrin interprets the songs in a unique way thanks to his discreet but always relevant guitar thu ; Slim Abida on bass, with his acute sense of groove, adds a kind of caramel coating; and Laurent Sériés' fluid, joyful drumming ensures the cohesion of the whole. Bulldog's production, by Pajaro Canzani and Jeff Hallam ... is the crowning touch.
